Rockford group given 77 computers worth $16,000

A donation of 77 computers will now help hundreds of Rockford residents achieve education and career goals.

The Rockford Rescue Mission got the donation worth $16,000 from Alpine Bank. The Rescue Mission provides meals and shelter to thousands of hungry homeless men, women and children in the area.

The donated equipment will replace all the computers in the mission's education center, which will be used daily by people in the long-term "life recovery" program.

"From the very beginning of basically just accessing education to really the back end where we are getting this person back into society this computers are going to be vital," said Chris Eldridge, Rockford Rescue Mission Director of Operations.
