Americans escaping the cold weather for warm destinations


The winter weather across the Midwest and the East Coast has travel agents buried with one simple request: get me out of here.

This cold season has Americans desperate to travel to warm-weather places such as California, Arizona, and Florida. Tourism agencies have been have used this weather to their advantage by putting up advertisements on trains and putting up billboards with beach and pool scenes. Winter vacations are annually promoted, but it has been much easier this year. Travelers that get out of the cold are begging their warm weather hotels to let them stay longer. According to, warm weather bookings for people from Illinois, New York, Massachusetts, and Washington D.C. rose 7 percent in January of this year compared to last year.
