Cold weather means increase in business for Rockford mechanic

ROCKFORD (WREX) -

While many of us may be tired of dealing with the cold weather and everything that comes along with it, one Rockford business feels the exact opposite.

Butitta Brothers Automotive Shop has seen a 20 percent increase in business this winter compared to last year, thanks to the cold's effect on local road conditions. Bad roads and cold have cause problems with cars' tires, batteries, heat, and some parts are just falling off.

"We have had parts just falling off from chunks of ice just hitting the bottom half of the car and a lot of that we wouldn't see obviously if the weather conditions were different," manager Bill Brandt explained.

Brandt said the shop's bays have been filled with cars every day, but they've been working hard to keep the cars moving.
