Galapagos Rockford accepting applications


Galapagos Rockford Charter School is now taking applications for kids in grades kindergarten through eighth.

Parents can apply for their child to attend the school between February 11 and March 14. All children will have an equal chance, thanks to a lottery held by the school on March 21. There has been a waiting list at most grade levels for the last five years.

In just the last two years, Galapagos has had the largest year-over-year gains in ISAT performance in the region. The school features small class sizes, college visits beginning in fourth grade, a yearly 7th grade trip to Wisconsin and 8th grade trip to Washington, D.C., and what they call the healthiest meal program in Rockford.

The K-5 campus is located at 2605 School Street and the 6-8th grade campus is at 3051 Rotary Road. You can find more information on how to apply at
