A 26-year-old Rockford man faces drug charges after a Thursday afternoon traffic stop.

Around 2:30 p.m. Thursday officers with District 2 patrol and Neighborhood Response Unit conducted a traffic stop at South Highland Avenue and East State Street. During the stop police say they collected 12.5 grams of cannabis and $578.

An investigation was initiated by District 2 detectives, which led them to execute a search warrant at a home in the 130 South Gardiner Avenue. During that search, an additional 80 grams of cannabis, scales, and drug paraphernalia were seized.
