RFD sees increase in passengers for 2013

The Chicago Rockford International Airport reported an increase in passenger traffic for both December and 2013 as a whole.

December 2013 saw a 3.9 percent increase in traffic over December 2012, with an 89 percent load factor. The entire year brought a 3.5 percent increase in passenger traffic and a 91 percent load factor.

Airport officials say the addition of destinations like PUnta Gorda and Montego Bay, more frequent flights to Cancun, and an increase in charter passengers attributed to RFD's successful year.

The airport served a total of 16,760 passengers last month, over December 2012's 15,127 passengers. A total of 217,850 passengers were served throughout all of 2013, up from 210,406 passengers served in 2012.

Since passenger service resumed at RFD in 2003, the airport has served over 1.8 million passengers.
