Rockford man arrested for aggravated battery in snowblowing incident

A 53-year-old Rockford man faces multiple charges after allegedly throwing snow from his snowblower toward a City of Rockford Public Works truck and employee.

Police say Timothy B. Donovan was seen blowing snow from his snowblower into the street from his driveway in the 1400 block of Jackson Street late Sunday morning.. When Public Works employees told Donovan that was against city ordinance, police say he became irate and began using profanity toward a female Public Works employee.

Donovan then allegedly directed his snowblower toward the Public Works truck and discharged snow, sending it through the open passenger door. The snow then hit a male Public Works employee in the head and chest.

When police arrived, they say Donovan fled into his home, but emerged several minutes later and was arrested without further incident.

Donovan faces the following charges:

  • Aggravated Battery
  • Disorderly Conduct
  • Resisting/Obstructing
  • Obstructing Identification
  • Ordinance Violation
