Two candidates running for office in Winnebago County are off the primary ballot.
Dave Fiduccia was running for sheriff. He withdrew after someone questioned signatures on his election petition.
Nancy Edwardsen was running for a seat on the county board. The electoral board threw out 11 of her signatures because it found they weren't from people in her district or weren't from valid voters.
Edwardsen argued the signatures she got were from people who thought they were in her district, and didn't know they'd been moved through redistricting.
"Residents do not understand that county board district 6, my district, has been reallocated to 17 and 20," said Edwardsen.
But that argument was not enough to keep her name on the ballot.
"Not knowing what district you're in really doesn't make that evidence that you should be in the district that you think you're in. That's simply not enough evidence," said David Kurlinkus, Winnebago County Deputy State's Attorney.
Edwardsen says she plans to appeal.
