BELVIDERE (WREX) -

A Belvidere man faces first degree murder charges for a November 30 shooting that resulted in the death of 18-year-old Giovanni Galicia.

The Boone County State's Attorney's Office claims 22-year-old Ricardo Figueroa committed first degree murder because Galicia died while Figueroa was trying to commit a forcible felony and mob action. Figueroa was previously charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition as a street gang member.

Anthony Perez, a co-defendant in the case, also faces first degree murder charges for the shooting.
