Another democrat throws hat into Winnebago County Sheriff race

Sergeant Glenn Heidenreich is joining four other democrats in the March 2014 primary election for Winnebago County Sheriff.

Heidenreich served as a Navy SEAL before entering the Winnebago County Sheriff's Department as a corrections officer. He has served as a patrol deputy and detective and now supervises warrants, extraditions, community policing, and SWAT.

Other Democrats in the race include Jeffrey Schroeder, Bob Springer, Bob Redmond, and Randy Olson. On the Republican side of the ballot, Frank Pobjecky will face Gary Caruana.

Current Sheriff Richard Meyers will not run for re-election.
