ISP hand out 200 speeding tickets during Thanksgiving patrols


Troopers with Illinois State Police District 16 hit the streets between November 18 and December 1 to help fight drunk driving over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Officers conducted patrols throughout Winnebago County and focused on I-90, I-39, and U.S. 20. During that time, the following citations and arrests were made:

  • Occupant restraint citations - 54
  • Drug/alcohol-related arrests - 4
  • Speeding citations - 200
  • Speeding written warnings - 51
  • Total citations/arrests - 296
  • Total written warnings - 108

The troopers focused on speeding, seatbelt violations, DUIs, and other alcohol-related offenses during the patrols. The enforcement was funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation's Division of Traffic Safety.
