UPDATE: Police say the man shot by police was 30-year-old Shane David Cataline of Toledo, Ohio.

PREVIOUS: A driver shot by an Illinois Department of Natural Resources Officer dies at the scene.

The conservation officer shot a driver during a traffic stop Friday.

The officer was assisting an Illinois State Trooper who had pulled the driver over near Interstate 88 outside of Sterling. IDNR spokesman Chris McCloud said the driver of the car "aggressively" pinned the trooper and the conservation officer shot the driver in response. The officer was put on temporary paid administrative leave.

The incident is under investigation by Illinois State Police. The trooper suffered non-life threatening injuries, but the driver's condition was not immediately known.

Interstate 88 was shut down to investigate. It is suppose to reopen at 5:30 p.m. Friday according to the Illinois State Police.
