November marks Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month

While cancer in any form can be fatal if it's not caught in time, one particularly deadly type is being recognized by the medical community this month.

November marks Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month. The hope is to get the word out about the disease, which is often not found until it's too late.

"Since the organ is kind of located in the back portion of our abdomen, the symptoms of pancreatic cancer do not appear until the tumor itself has grown to a considerable size," Dr. Shivi Jain with the OSF Center for Cancer Care explained.

Dr. Jain says smoking, alcohol, and obesity are contributors to the disease.
