Styx and REO Speedwagon to headline tornado benefit concert

REO Speedwagon and Styx will team up next month to headline a benefit concert for victims of the tornadoes that ripped through Illinois last weekend.

Both bands have strong ties to Illinois and the "Rock to the Rescue Extends a Hand to Those in Need" concert will take place at Bloomington's U.S. Cellular Coliseum on December 4. Tickets will be between $28 and $58 and will go on sale this Saturday.

Styx guitarist James Young and REO Speedwagon guitarist and singer Kevin Cronin are both from Illinois and Young says Illinoisans have "let support and a helping hand" to the bands. He says now "It's our turn to ask what we can do for this great state."

The Rock to the Rescue nonprofit was founded 12 years ago.
