DeKalb gears up to host football championships

Around 30,000 fans are expected to descend on DeKalb for next weekend's state football championships.

This city will host a total of eight games and will alternate hosting duties for the last games with Champaign-Urbana. That deal is part of an arrangement with the Illinois High School Association that goes through 2021.

To ready the city for the eight football games, the goal posts at Northern Illinois University are being swapped out and around 200 volunteers are getting ready to help game attendees.

Classes 1A, 2A, 3A, and 4A will play next Friday and the finals for classes 5A, 6A, 7A, and 8A will be played Saturday.
