Police union formally requests investigation of Rockford incident

Posted: Updated:
ROCKFORD (WREX) -

Rockford Police Union leaders formally ask for an investigation into a call that's gotten a lot of attention.

We told you Wednesday about the news conference the union held wanting someone outside the department to look into the incident. October 30th, 3 officers went to a home to do a welfare check.  They say at some point the chief intervened during a cell phone conversation with the man inside the home and told him to not let officers in.

Union President, Terry Peterson, sent a letter Thursday to the Rockford Fire & Police Commission formally requesting, in his words, "a full, fair, impartial, and independent investigation."
