ROCKFORD (WREX) -

The Salvation Army is in need of more businesses to participate in its 45th annual Food for the Needy Drive.

The organization uses the drive to provide food to the 3,000 families and individuals who register for Christmas food assistance each year. This year, they are asking more businesses and organizations to take part by hosting a food donation barrel at their locations.

The Salvation Army will deliver the barrels, just email uscmet_barrelrequest@usc.salvationarmy.org or call 815-997-6917 to request one. Cash or check donations to purchase food for the needy will also be accepted. You can mail a check to "Food for the Needy," c/o The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 4159, Rockford, IL 61110.
