VIVA! board member faces charges in sex abuse investigation

The president of Dixon's VIVA! Board faces charges after police say he didn't report a case of sexual abuse.

At the beginnig of the month, Vocal Instructor Robert Campbell was arrested on charges he sexually abused A 17 year old boy.  Police have been looking in to the organization ever since. Investigators say the teenager told other instructors at the school about the abuse, but they didn't do anything to stop or report it.   Just last week Drama Director Tim Boles was arrested and charged with failing to report abuse or neglect.   Now police say Curtis Schmitt faces those same charges.  Dixon Police Chief Danny Langloss says he's disappointed with the response from the VIVA!.  He expected the performing arts center to launch an investigation into the incident and look at their policies and procedures.  "VIVA! is playing an important role in our community. I recognize the importance of this organization and the skills they are providing our youth. That does not change the responsibilities of certain staff as Mandated Reporters."

There's a warrant out for Schmitt's arrest.
