Suspects in Rockford Sports Plus burglary arrested


Rockford Police arrested two people, including a teenager, for allegedly breaking into Sports Plus in Rockford.

Police arrived just before 5pm on Monday. They were responding to an alarm at Sports Plus on Auburn Street. When police arrived, they saw a hole in the building. One officer heard someone running on the roof. That suspect, a 16-year-old, was tracked down and arrested.

Later police said they found another suspect hiding on the roof. His name is Devonte Franklin. Investigators say they found several articles of clothing near the suspects that were taken from the retail store.

20-year-old Franklin faces burglary and criminal damage to property charges.

The 16-year-old faces burglary, resisting a police officer and curfew violation charges.
