Rockford school children in need of winter supplies

As the cold weather moves in, Rockford area schools want to make sure their kids are prepared for it.

Schools are asking for more than coats. School supplies, socks and boots are also needed. The items will go to the schools that need them most.

"If they didn't have boots, they'll notice that their shoes are really wet. It's really nice because the teachers and the principals are aware of the students in need, so there's a tendency to look out for the students to make sure they get what they need," said Marsha Sisney, Rockford Public School District.

Sisney says if you'd like to help, you can drop off needed items at Peak Fitness, Mary's Market and the YMCA.
