More destinations will soon be available for people who depend on the Rockford Mass Transit District.
The RMTD is adding a new route on Bell School Road and to Cherry Vale Mall. Transit leaders say it's in response to customer demand.
The #18 Bell School route is a new route that will run hourly, Monday through Saturday from the RMTD East Side facility on Lyford Road, North to the Swedish American Cancer. The route will make stops at destinations along the way such as the Women's Health Center and the businesses and stores on Spring Brook and McFarland Roads.
The #19 CherryVale route is also a new hourly route. It will service that portion of Cherry Valley currently provided by the #11 East State Street route. The service will leave the RMTD Lyford Road Transfer Center and stop at the Walmart on East State. From Walmart it will go directly to the Mall and Magic Waters. The Mall and Magic Waters will no longer be on the #11 East State route.
A zone fare of $.25 will be charged each passenger when they board this route.
