Tech competition uses City of Rockford issues to fix with apps

The Rockford OpenTech Challenge brought together civic-minded web developers, designers, and data scientists together with civic organizations to use the power of open data and the web to help solve problems in the city.

Three challenges were given to the participants involved. The challenges took a civic problem faced by the City of Rockford or a local non-profit and challenged civic technologists to build an app that helps solve the issue or educate the public on the issue.

Total prize money was $15,000. Each winning team received $5000.
