ROCKFORD (WREX) -

Home values in Illinois have taken a hit since the recession according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

The latest statistics show the median home value in Illinois after the recession is just short of $180,000. During the recession, it was more than $207,000. Also, the number of people who own homes decreased from nearly 69 percent to 67 percent.

However current data from the Illinois Association of Realtors show the market is rebounding.
