22-year-old woman dies in Polo crash


A 22-year-old Albuquerque, New Mexico, woman is dead and two men are hurt after a Saturday night crash in the 600 block of North Union Road in Polo.

Emergency crews responded to the single vehicle crash just after 10:00 p.m. on November 9. According to the Ogle County Sheriff's Office, the car was going south on Union when it left the roadway and hit a utility pole.

The driver, 23-year-old Jason W. Wagner of Polo, was taken to KSB Hospital before being transferred to a Rockford hospital then to OSF in Peoria with serious injuries. The rear seat passenger, 18-year-old Jay R. Wagner of Albuquerque was taken to KSB with minor injuries.

The vehicle's front seat passenger, 22-year-old Melanie R. Wagner of Albuquerque, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
