Disturbing details on how a Rockford mother is accused of brutally stabbing her son to death. This morning Jody Kossow entered a plea of not guilty to the crime.
There are 52 new counts against Kossow. A mistake in the original charging documents caused the Winnebago County State's Attorney's office to bring the matter back before grand jury. The new superceding bill of indictment was brought back earlier this week.
In the charges we learned the state alleges Kossow held down her 8-year-old son Thomas Kossow. It says she repeatedly stabbed Thomas in the chest and stomach. That he died when she slit his throat.
The Winnebago County Sheriff Department says in September they found Kossow in her driveway with her son dead. A knife was found nearby. The state is asking for natural life in prison.
Kossow is asking for her bond to be lowered. A judge will hear the motion on November 19th.
