13 News anchor, producer, and reporter Jeannie Hayes passed away one year ago on November 8 from a very rare form of leukemia. To honor Jeannie's memory, a local publisher has put two of her children's manuscripts to print.

Jungle Wagon Press has published the manuscripts in a flip book, and altered the title of one story to make Jeannie the main character. Local artist Jeff Gale worked closely with her family to add several mementos from her childhood into the illustrations.

Proceeds from the sale of Jeannie's Missing Shoes/Shelley the Turtle will help cover the publishing costs, which were incurred by Jeannie's family. The stories are examples of Jeannie's life mottos of persevere, believe in yourself, and remember that sometimes what you're looking for is right before your eyes.

The book will be sold at the upcoming Rockford Handmade Market and A Local Holiday Market. It is also currently available at or
