Winnebago County throws first Renewable Energy Expo

Renewable energy use and energy efficiency in the Rockford area were the main topic of discussion at Klehm Arboretum Friday for the first Winnebago County Renewable Energy Expo.

Attendees learned more about renewable energy options, funding, and how to apply those practices in the real world from industry experts and local businesses. Twenty-seven exhibitors showcased how they save energy and demonstrated new energy efficiency techniques for companies.

Representatives from the Illinois Commerce Commission, Environmental Law & Policy Center, and the Illinois Renewable Energy Association gave lectures.

The event was hosted by Winnebago County, Freedom Field, Illinois Renewable Energy Association, and Rock Valley College.
