A McHenry man was taken into custody in Las Vegas Thursday after skeletal remains were found in his McHenry home this week.
The remains were found Wednesday afternoon by a caretaker who had been caring for the exterior of the home in the 500 block of Country Club Road. Police say the person appeared to have been dead for quite some time and the home had not been lived in for over a year and a half.
The next afternoon, 62-year-old William J. Ross was arrested in Las Vegas with the help of the U.S. Marshal Service. He has been charged with Concealment of a Homicidal Death. Ross is the owner of the home in which the body was found.
No definitive cause of death has been determined after an autopsy on the remains, but the victim is an adult female. Her identity has not yet been released pending family notification.
Ross is currently being held at Clark County Correctional Facility in Las Vegas, Nevada, pending extradition. Additional charges may be forthcoming.
