Man dies after driving vehicle into Lake Michigan

A man is dead after driving his car into Lake Michigan around 10:30 p.m. Thursday night.

Officials with the Chicago Fire Department say the man was driving on Lake Shore Drive when he made a sharp turn, went over the sidewalk, down some stairs, and into one of the lake's harbors.

The man was pulled from the submerged car by divers, but he was later pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

The man's name and what caused him to drive into the lake have not been released.
