There is a new state director for the Illinois Republican Party and the Republican National Committee.
The new director, Anthony Esposito, worked for Republican Congressman John Shimkus and was the political director for the Illinois GOP and was also the staff of U.S. Senator Mark Kirk. His job is to boost the party's election prospects. RNC chairman Reince Priebus said the national committee is working with state parties and campaigns in order to build an infrastructure which will hope to help win key congressional and governor's races in 2014. Priebus says the work will also assist in "laying the foundation for success" for the 2016 presidential race.
According to Illinois GOP Chair Jack Dorgan the position is part of a strategy to revamp the state's Republican party.
