Carrie Lynn Children's Center gets $10,000 grant from Gruno's

The Carrie Lynn Children's Center is the winner of a $10,000 grant, but the nomination came from an unlikely source.

Instead, Gruno's Diamonds nominated the center in a grant program sponsored by Jewelers for Children, a group of jewelers that helps kids in need.

The grant program hands out 10 $10,000 grants to charities around the country that help children. Jewelers around the country nominated 30 charities, but with the help of Gruno's, the Carrie Lynn Children's Center received the most votes.

The Carrie Lynn Children's Center addresses child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse cases. It has been working in Winnebago and Boone counties since 1997.
