Marllins Sign Former Aviators Pitcher

The Rockford Aviators, presented by Pearson, announced Wednesday that the contract of right-handed pitcher Nick Grim has been purchased by the Miami Marlins.

This will be Grim's second chance in affiliated baseball, as he last pitched for the GCL Orioles (rookie class) in 2012 after being drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 17th round of the 2012 MLB June Amateur Draft out of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
This is not the first time the Marlins have shown interest in Grim. The club drafted him in the 14th round of the 2011 draft out of Monterey Peninsula College, but Grim did not sign and went back to college.
After a tough start, Grim was used regularly down the stretch and recorded a 3.64 ERA in the month of August.
The Rockford Aviators are members of the Frontier League, the longest running independent, professional baseball league in the country. The Aviators begin the 2014 season Friday, May 16 at home against the River City Rascals.
