An autopsy performed on Trotter showed no foul play or trauma. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said tests that could determine his cause of death could take up to eight weeks.
Chicago's culinary community remembers chef Charlie Trotter.
Trotter, died early yesterday. The cause of his death is still under investigation. This comes just a little over a year after closing his famous namesake Chicago restaurant. His wife, Rochelle Trotter said that their family is, "incredibly shocked and deeply saddened."
Last night a group of friends, former employees and chefs from around the city gathered outside Trotter's former restaurant for a candlelight vigil. They lined up and left candles on the restaurant stairs. Trotter was 54 years old.
