The Rockford Mass Transit District will hold several informational meetings this month to introduce new routes and changes to existing routes.

The meetings will be held at the following times:

  • November 18, 10:00 a.m. - RMTD East Side Transfer Center, 725 Lyford Road

Two new routes will be introduced. The #18 Bell School Route will run hourly from Monday through Saturday. It will go north from the East Side Transfer Center to the Swedish American Cancer Center, making stops at destinations like the Women's Health Center and businesses and stores on Spring Brook and McFarland Roads. The #19 CherryVale Route will run hourly and serve the part of Cherry Valley currently served by the #11 East State Route. It will leave from the East Side Transfer Center and go to WalMart on East State before going to CherryVale Mall and Magic Waters. A zone fare charge of $0.25 will be charged on this route.

In addition, changes will be made to some existing routes. The #16 and #17 City Loop routes will have access to the Featherstone VA Clinic Monday through Friday, the #13 Rural Route will have access to PA Peterson and the Rockford School of Medicine, and the #3 Huffman and #6 Kilburn routes will both have access to WalMart on Riverside and Central.

The route changes will go into effect on December 8 and the new routes will begin on December 9.
