Rockford church needs volunteers for Thanksgiving dinner

ROCKFORD (WREX) -

Rockford's Court Street United Methodist Church offers up one of the city's biggest free Thanksgiving dinners every year, and this year, they need your help.

The church is in need of donations and volunteers to help feed hundreds of local homeless people. Volunteers are needed for the week leading up to Thanksgiving, starting on Monday, November 25. Cash donations and 30 baked pies, either store baked or frozen, are also needed.

"Volunteers are crucial to the success of this Thanksgiving dinner," church co-administrator Lorelle Wandell said. "Without their help and donations it wouldn't be possible to feed the hundreds of people who show up and enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving dinner that many of us take for granted each year."
