UPDATED: Police have released the full story on what happened in DeKalb Friday afternoon that led to a single gunshot being fired.
According to police, two separate groups were fighting over stolen marijuana. Through the investigation police were able to search an apartment and a vehicle finding the gun that was used to fire the shot.
No one was hit by the gunfire but one was injured after people hit in the head with a gun.
The following 12 people have been charged as result of the investigation:

Tyrone M. Sally, 19, DeKalb, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Aggravated Battery Public Way and Mob Action.
Abreon B. Starks, 19, DeKalb, Mob Action.
Gilbert G. Burch, 18, DeKalb, Mob Action.
David I. Cortina, 19, DeKalb, Mob Action.
Maceo Penn, 18, Chicago, Mob Action.
Edward K. Reid, 18, Chicago, Mob Action.
Maurice Johnson, 18, Chicago, Mob Action.
Isaiah L. Lee, 19, Chicago, Mob Action.
Julio A. Martinez, 20, Zion, Unlawful Delivery of Cannabis within a 1000 feet of a School (less than 10 grams).

PREVIOUS: DeKalb police responded to the Travel Inn on West Lincoln Highway Friday afternoon for a fight in the parking lot.
Cmdr. John Petragallo said two groups of about five or six people started fighting around 12:30 p.m. During that time, at least one shot was fired and a person was hit in the head with a gun.
No one was hit by the fired shot.
