Driver cited for causing Bartlett train derailment

Posted: Updated:

A truck driver is being cited for causing a car crash in a Chicago suburb that led to a train derailment.

Volodimyr Matkiviski, from Pennsylvania, is accused of ignoring a road sign and making a left turn leading to Monday's crash.

Police say Matkiviski was being the wheel of a semi trailer carrying five vehicles that tried to cross train tracks near Bartlett. There wasn't enough room for the truck, it stopped across both tracks, and was hit by an oncoming train.

Two people received minor injuries and the train's front car derailed.
