Fire at DeKalb bakery causes $75,000 in damages


Crews from DeKalb, Sycamore, and Cortland responded to a fire at the Monarca Bakery in DeKalb just after 7:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Upon arrival at the bakery in the 200 block of North Second Street, firefighters found fire in the front of the unoccupied business. The blaze was brought under control within a half hour and did not extend to any attached structures.

No one was injured, but the amount of damage is estimated to be around $75,000.
