Pet-A-Palooza benefits area shelter animals

Of the 6 to 8 million cats and dogs entering shelters each year, approximately half are euthanized.  October is National Adopt-a-Shelter Dog Month and Lou Bachrodt and First Northern Credit Union are working with several local animal rescue groups and organizations to bring families and friends together through the adoption of loving companions.

On Saturday, anyone could bring their pets to Lou Bachrodt in Cherry Valley for the event. Local pet adoption organizations were featured along with pet training centers, pet lodging services, pet nutrition programs and pet grooming services.

Many rescue groups and animal services organizations were at the event.  All proceeds from the event were given to the participating rescue organizations.

If you are interested in adopting a pet, limited adoptions may take place with select groups, interested individuals can pre-apply and undergo a background check prior to the event by contacting the desired group.  Not all organizations will take pre-applications.
