People gather for Rockford 1st grader's funeral

ROCKFORD (WREX) -

Friends and family gather at a Rockford church to remember a little boy hit by a car last week.

6-year-old Yamiko Key was a student at St. James School.  That's also where his funeral was held.

Last Thursday, he was accidentally knocked down and run over in his own driveway. Investigators say he ran to see his mom, who was behind the wheel.  Her foot accidentally came off the brake.  The open door knocked Miko down, and the car ran him over.

There's a memorial fund set up to help his family with expenses. If you'd like to donate, go to any Alpine Bank location.
