After years of asking for help to fix the potholes and bad pavement plaguing Bucknell Drive, Rockford residents have a new road.
The section of the road from Harrison Avenue to Yale Drive has been resurfaced. Aldermen and residents claim the street was so filled with potholes that it wasn't safe to drive on. At least one neighbor expressed her gratitude for the project.
"Thirty-five years I've lived in this neighborhood and I have begged, pleaded, whatever to try to get something done," Sandra Bowman explained. "They come out very graciously to fill in the potholes, but they don't last very long. We've needed this street repaved for a very, very long time. I'm so grateful."
The resurfacing was paid for by money from the City's capital improvement program.
