Boone County Animal Services in need of community's help

BELVIDERE (WREX) -

It's not just the animals at Boone County Animal Services that are in need of help.

The agency is low on funds. Currently, it is funded by dog registrations and adoption fees, which is not enough revenue to construct the new building the shelter needs.

Animal Services Program Coordinator Jacqui Mitzelfelt says the shelter has long outgrown its current facility. "This building was suitable for our size community, but as the community is growing, our building needs to grow as well," she said.

You can donate to help the shelter reach its goal by stopping by its location at 1230 South Appleton Road between Monday and Friday.
