A search warrant and subsequent traffic stop turned up psilocybin mushrooms, cannabis, pills, drug packaging materials, and cash in Belvidere.

Belvidere police stopped 28-year-old Thomas Shattuck's vehicle on Bypass 20 at Townhall Road on Monday. During the stop, officers recovered cannabis, pills, and cash. Shattuck was taken into custody and the car seized.

The arrest was the result of a month-long investigation by the Belvidere Police Narcotics Unit. A search warrant carried out at a residence in the 1100 block of Union Avenue earlier this month recovered psilocybin mushrooms, cannabis, pills, drug paraphernalia, drug packaging materials, electronic scale, and cash.

Shattuck has been charged with the following:

  • 1 count unlawful possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (psilocybin mushrooms) within 1,000 feet of a school
  • Unlawful possession with intent to deliver cannabis

Shattuck was taken into custody on a $150,000 bond.

Additional charges and arrests in the investigation are pending.
