Sixteen Wisconsin men from six counties have been taken into custody in a sting targeting Internet child sex predators.
Eight men were arrested in Brown County, four in Marathon, and the rest in Winnebago, Shawano, Outagamie, and Door counties. The investigation ran from Wednesday to Saturday and included between 1,200 and 1,500 chats between police and possible suspects. Online ad services and social media outlets were targeted by police.
Eight men were charged by Monday. Charges include use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, child enticement, prostitution, and possession of a controlled substance.
The investigation is still ongoing.
