RAMP volunteers build ramp for Rockford woman

Although the RAMP organization is not known for building physical ramps, volunteers with the Home Builders Association of the Greater Rockford Area got together over the weekend to put that name into action.

A handful of volunteers with RAMP and the Home Builders Association donated their time and discounted materials from Menards to build a new ramp for a Rockford woman's home.

Cheryl Lester, the daughter of the ramp's recipient, said "We are just so profoundly grateful for what they're doing for our mother." Lester said that due to her mother's disabilities she often needed the help of two to three people to help her mother down the stairs and out of her home for doctors appointments.

The volunteers built the ramp Saturday.
