Rockford man arrested for threatening friends, family with gun

A Rockford man faces charges after police say he threatened friends and family with a gun.

It happened at 410 S. Day Street in Rockford. Police say 29-year-old Junior Hinrichs got into an argument with his friend and girlfriend Saturday night. Investigators say he then pulled out a long barreled gun and told them to leave. Hinrichs stepfather remained inside.

Officers arrived just before midnight and spoke with Hinrichs over the phone. Police say Hinrichs made threats against his stepfather and contact was cut off.

Nearly seven hours later, the stepfather came out of the home and Hinrichs was arrested.

He was first brought to a local hospital for a medical and psychological evaluation. Then police took him to the Winnebago County Justice Center.

Hinrichs faces charges for not having a FOID card.
