Illinois home sales were up by 17.3% in August compared to a year earlier. The median price also increased by 13.6%. The Illinois Association of Realtors released the numbers yesterday.
Statewide nearly 16,000 homes sold in August. The median price was $167,000. In August there was a 22% increase in home sales in Chicago compared to the previous year with 2,797 sales. The median price of a home in the city was up more than 22% at $245,000. 52 of 102 Illinois counties reported year over year growth in home sales.
Michael Oldenettel of the real estate group says the state's spring and summer selling season was "quite strong."
