Rockford native experiences Colorado flooding

Posted: Updated:
BOULDER, CO -

A Rockford woman sees first hand the deadly flooding in Colorado.  So far 4 people have died.  The worst of the flooding is in Lyons.

Andrea Jacobsen is a Lutheran High School graduate working on her master's degree, in Boulder, which is about 20 miles south of Lyons.

She says she's used to floods like we get once in a while around here along the Rock River.  But this, Andrea calls unbelievable.

"It's been pretty scary. I was pretty shocked this morning when I woke up.  Last night the streets were completely flooded.  You couldn't leave your house.  It was really advised not to leave your house.  And we can't get on the highway to actually get to Denver either," Andrea says.

She's OK but tells 13News some of her friends' homes are destroyed.
