MADISON, WI (WREX) -

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is asking the public for tree seeds to boost state nurseries.

The DNR is looking to buy seeds for balsam fire, jack pine, basswood with wings attached, butternut, shagbark hickory, sugar maple, swamp white oak, red oak, white oak, and walnut trees.

Seed buying stations have been set up around the state and at state nurseries in Hayward, Boscobel, and Wisconsin Rapids.

The seeds will help the DNR meet reforestation goals.
