Harlem-Roscoe Fire loses long-time Deputy Chief


A long time Rockford-area firefighter loses his battle with cancer.  Richard "Ike" Schoonover, 77 passed away Monday. 

Schoonover was a Deputy Chief for the Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department.  Current Chief Don Shovelin says Schoonover spent 35 years on the department.   A visitation will be held to honor his life Thursday from 5pm-8pm at Delehanty Funeral Home in Loves Park.  Schoonover will be laid to rest on Friday after a service at 11am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rockford.
